Q: What is the recommended age range for these courses?
A: The recommended age range is 8-18. We know it seems like a large range. These are 100 level courses and the topics while experiential, are general. We've had older kids express their surprise that age really doesn't matter and often the younger kids are more precocious than the older ones.
Q: Is there a forum where kids/parents can ask questions?
A: Yes, whenever you enroll in a course, you will have access to our private community membership site where you can ask questions and also converse with other students.
Q: What kind of course is this?
A: This is an online course that features guest speakers, live Q&A, homework, experiments, and breakout groups. The course is designed to be interactive and engaging, with plenty of opportunities to ask questions, collaborate with classmates, and apply what you've learned.
Q: What do I need to participate in the course?
A: You will need a computer or other device with an internet connection, a webcam, and Zoom capabilities. You should also have a quiet place to participate in live sessions and complete homework assignments.
Q: How often will we meet for live sessions?
A: In most cases we will have an option for either a morning class or afternoon class.We will meet every week for a series of weeks as specified by the course.Classes typically last for 2 - 2.5 hours. Live sessions will feature guest speakers, Q&A sessions, and other interactive activities.
Q: What if I can't attend a live session?
A: All live sessions will be recorded and uploaded to the course website within 48 hours of the end of class. You will be able to watch the recording at your convenience.
Q: How long will I have access to the course?
A: Students will have 1 full year of access from the start date of the course. We want to encourage that students take the courses in a timely manner.
Q: Will there be homework assignments?
A: Yes, there will be homework assignments that will help you apply what you've learned in class. Homework assignments will be submitted through the course website.
Q: Will there be exams or quizzes?
A: There may be quizzes or other assessments to help you gauge your understanding of the material. These will be announced in advance and will be completed online.
Q: Will there be group work?
A: Yes, there will be breakout groups where you will work with other students to complete assignments and discuss course materials.
Q: Who are the guest speakers?
A: The guest speakers are experts in their field and will provide unique insights and perspectives on course topics. Guest speakers will be announced in advance.
Q: Can I ask questions during live sessions?
A: Yes, there will be opportunities to ask questions during live sessions. You can also ask questions through the course website or during breakout group sessions. We can't guarantee that every question can be answered Live as there is a time limitation. However, we will do our best to make sure questions are answered after the class.
Q: How much time should I expect to spend on a course each week?
A: You should expect to spend 4 hour at minimum, per week on the course, including live sessions, homework assignments, and other activities. Our goal is to help students find their passion where they lose track of time because they are so enjoying the course.
